What type of medicine is needed?

by HIM74, Jul 27, 2008 10:52AM
I was diagnosed as having chlamydia and was treated for it, although the medicine that I was given did take away most of the irritation to the tip of my penis, it all did not go away as I ran out of the meds.  The doctor told me that it was a rare reaction which was a skin irritation due to contact with chlamydia.  It discolored my penis to a sort of red color and was puffy, sore and it peeled like the shedding of skin.  I was given pills and a creame which the name of one started with an A, and the other started with a V.  Can you assist me in the name of these medicines which were for the skin due to this nasty STD since you are familiar?

This discussion is related to Irritation to tip of penis immediately after oral sex (and still present 4 days later).

Were the pills azithromycin?  Did you take 1 gm of it once?  You said you ran out - how long were you on it?

I don't know what the cream is - you don't know the name of it?

Since you aren't better, you need to follow up with your doctor.

IDK...I took the pills for a week and the creame lasted for a little less.

Well, I can't tell you if the meds were appropriate if you can't remember what they were.

The most common treatments for chlamydia are azithromycin, but you would only take those once, and doxycycline, which is for 7 days.

Since you are still having symptoms, you need to follow up with your doctor.

The STD is gone as well as most of the irritation, just in one corner or small spot on my head is still a little discolored and gets dry sometimes

Maybe you have a fungal infection.  You should still see your doctor.

The doxycycline made me cough up blood...the dermatologist gave me these other meds.

Ack - that's not good, huh?

Well, you should call the doctor and ask what the meds were.

Right, but I've no insurance and the health department wants to recommend me to a speacialist.  They wont help.

They HAVE to tell you what medications they gave you.  Its part of your medical record, and by law, you have access to that.

It seems that there is more to this story - like you've been back to a doctor, etc.  Can you share that with me all at once?  That would make it easier for me to help you.
