Where to purchase Doxycycline?

by a bit concerned, Jul 25, 2007 05:39PM
I have had the symptoms of urethritis since immediately after receiving oral sex early on Sunday morning.  Slight irritation, some redness and minor swelling at the tip of the penis.  I don't have health insurance, and tests are going to run me about $150-200, and I don't know if that will cover any antibiotics that might be necessary.  I was wondering where I could find Doxycycline, just to take it as a precautionary measure.  I have scoured this site and spoken with someone at Planned Parenthood, and the only STD that it might be would be gonorrhea - and Dr. HHH had mentioned that Doxycycline would take care of that condition as well.

Thanks so much.

I think it might still be better to go see a Dr in this case, as they can write you a prescription for doxy (or maybe azithromycin) which can be filled with a generic and so not cost much money.

Most of the online pharmacies charge more than you would pay, even without insurance, at a cheaper pharmacy such as Walmart or Target.  Also, with a prescription, you can get your medicine immediately, instead of waiting several days.

you should see if their is local std clinic in your area.  You might be able to be seen and treated at minimum cost.

Thanks to both of you.  I will check with the local clinics listed on my state's health website.  Not sure if they are free though.  I just don't want to spend a couple hundred bucks for nothing, for example several men that posted questions here have gotten testing - and not found a resolution to the issue.  But it does appear unlikely that this is gonorrhea since the symptoms occured immediately after the oral sex with no delayed onset.  If this minor irritation subsides over the next few days, then everything would seem to be ok (per many responses of Dr. HHH).
