Why test for chlamydia/gonorrhea?

by Dismounted, Sep 28, 2007 11:26PM
I am going through a divorce from my 42 year old wife (bipolar/alcoholic) after a 6 year marriage though we have continued sexual contact on and off throughout the process - last intercourse was about 2 months ago.  About 10 days ago, we slept together, and though she insisted we have no sex, she asked me to finger her and I felt what I believe was a hard, swollen cervix and a smelly discharge.  I see through insurance records that she has had a DNA test for chlamydia and gonorrhea.  During the marriage and through the divorce period, I had no other sexual partners and she claims the same.  What do you think is going on?
I should mention that our behavior may be unusual for a divorcing couple, but she is now medicating (we probably would be married for many years if she would have stayed on her meds, but she kept stopping them - If there was an implant or 5 year Rx, the relationship would be workable).
