Window Period for STDs (Quick Q)

Hi !

I received unprotected oral sex from a girl in massage parlour (Sydney).

The exposure was on the 26 May 2010.

I got tested for SYPHILIS/HIV/NGU/GONO/CHLAMYDIA on 28 July 2010 (~9 weeks)

Are the test accurate for the above test? Cuz as far as I know .. Syphilis have got a window period of 3 months - if so - will be results still be accurate?

Thanks alot !

Also, did I miss out any other test for such exposure?

Just a learning question but isn't there a chance (all oral is fairly low risk) for NGU  in this case?

Herpes there is no cure but treatment so you do not spread it and so that any outbreaks are minimized. I see no reason for testing for herpes.

Syphilis at 9 weeks is fine.

hello !

As for herpes - I have got no symptoms = no test needed?

And herpes is incurable so having the test or not is just redundant?

Lastly, syphilis window is met even if it's no risk incident?

Thanks alot for your reply!

Hello.

You shouldn't worry about syphilis from your encounter.  You didn't need the HIV test, nor the chlamydia test from this encounter.  You were only at risk for gonorrhea and herpes, from which are low risk from oral sex.   Gonorrhea window was meet.

If I were you, since your on a roll; I'd test for herpes, (not because I think you got it from her), but you'll know your pertinent STD status.  After that try to keep it that way (being STD free).
