Worried

11 days ago, I went to a strip club.  While getting a dance, the dancer rubbed her genitals on my mouth.  My lips were in contact with her genital area for approximately 5 seconds at the most.  This was the only "sexual contact" that I had with her.  She also put her tongue in my mouth a couple of times.  Approximately 24 hours later, I had unprotected oral sex and intercourse with my wife.  3 days after that, I noticed a sore on the inside of my lip (I have had this type of sore occasionally for my whole life).  I have also noted some general irritation and dryness of my lips.  The cold sore appears to be getting better.  Just today, however, I started feeling some urgency to urinate and some discomfort (like a urinary tract infection). I do not have any pain or burning when I actually urinate.  Is there any chance that I contacted some type of STD from this encounter at the strip club?  Also, is my wife at risk for anything (she has not exhibited any symptoms so far)?

Welcome to the Forum.  The exposures that you describe were no risk exposures which carry no risk for STD acquisition.  Specifically, there is no risk for STD (or HIV) from kissing, no matter what you kiss and no matter whether the kissing was "deep" or not.  Thus there is no risk that you may have transmitted something to your wife.

As for the spot on your lip, I agree that this sounds like a cold sore.

Neither you nor your wife are at risk for anything, nor do you need any sort of testing.  I hope this comment is helpful to you.  EWH

What about the urinary tract issues?  Does this sound like a UTI?  If so, is there anything in particular that could have caused it?

Your urinary tract was in no way involved with the exposure you describe.  STDs require direct exposure for infection to occur.  Any symptoms you are experiencing in your urinary tract are un-related to your exposure.  EWH

I also have noted what looks like tiny pmple at the base of the head of my penis.  Does this change your opinion at all?  What is the timeframe after exposure for herpes sores to appear?  Also, I still have the urinary tract pain and the area around the opening to my urethra is irritated.  I went to the doctor yesterday and he prescribed me an antibiotic for the urinary tract issue.  He did a urinalysis but did not specifically test for STDs.

I know that I am probably just being paranoid due to my fear of catching soemthing, but just wanted to make sure that I had given you all of the facts.  Thanks for all of your input.

I am sorry to keep posting, but I am worried sick.  My symptoms have not cleared up and I Have had back/kidney pain over the last several days.  Does this cahnge your initial opinio at all?  Also, last night, my wife had trouble sleeping because she was "having frequent urgency to urinate".  She said that this is very "unusual presentation for a UTI" for her.  She has been on Levaquin for about a week for bronchitis.  Would this be effective if she had caught anything from me?

If you can be so kind as to answer my questions, I will be done posting.  Thank you again for your help.

Of course it would,  I  you ar enot at risk. Yo may have a problem unrelated to an exposure or this may be a reflection of your guilt and resulting anxiety.  This is not an STD acquired in the exposure you describe.  EWH

It has now been 5 weeks since my exposure (female genitalia rubbed on my inner lips/mouth for approximately 5 to 10 seconds).  I continued to have the back pain and urethra irritation until just a few days ago.  I am now on my third round of antibiotics (first cipro for a possible UTI and then biaxin and now levaquin for bronchitis and and pnuemonia (pneumonia) (my doctor also though I might have prostatitis).  The originall sore (probably a cold sore) healed after about 10 days.  I now have another sore on the other side of my mouth (inside my bottom lip).  I had not been worried anymore until I had an irritated raw area (wher the skin was rubbing off) on the inside of my right cheek.  My question is, do any of my symptoms sound at all like syphilis?  I have read that levaquin is effective against some STDs but not syphilis.  I have had unprotected sex with my wife on 3 occasions since my exposure.  I know it is probably my guilt/anxiety manifesting itself into physical symptoms, but these new symptoms in my mouth have me worried.  Any information that could provide me would be most appreciated.  Thank you.

You continue to worry inappropriately.  Levofloxacin in not effective agains t syphilis however, more importantly for you, antibiotics do not cure anxiety.  Your symptoms are not suggestive of any STD.

This will end this thread.  eWH
