Worrisome bump.

Hi-
I'm emailing you because recently I've developed a small bump/pimple/wart/something on the major labia on my vulva.  It's small and sort of whiteish and today I popped it and a tiny clump of pus came out along with some blood. It has been there for about a month or two and only now am I worried about what it can be. I've looked at pictures of herpes online and mine doesn't really look like those at all. I have no pain anywhere and nothing irregular is going on besides this thing down there.
As for my sexual history - I've had two major relationships and one person I had sex with once.  The person I'm with now has the exact sexual history as me (two major things and one minor).  Sometimes we don't use condoms, which might be a mistake. Otherwise we have both used condoms with other people, and neither of us have been tested.

So basically, I'm just wondering if I should be worried. Do you have any idea what I have?

Thank you so much in advance!

This sounds like a sebaceous cyst that became infected; or garden-variety folliculitis or acne.  It definitely isn't herpes, which wouldn't last a month then come to a head.  But of course I can't be certain; for a definite diagnosis you need to see a healthcare provider.  You definitely need to do so if the lesion persists, gets worse, etc.

As a sexually active young (I'm guessing) woman who has changed partners, even infrequently, you should have annual testing for common STDs, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea.  If that hasn't been done recently, this would be a good time; the provider can also check out the lesion you describe.

Good luck-- HHH, MD
