Worrying about STD's

Hi Docs, I´ve posted this question before to another Doctor about 4 days ago but haven't heard back from him. Hopefully I'll get a sooner answer from you guys because I'm really worried.

This are the facts:
Last thursday I was at a bachelor party, and long story short, I ended up giving oral sex to one of the call-girls. (Vagina and anus). Then she proceeded to rub her vagina with the tip of my penis (my penis was between my stomach and her vagina while she was doing the rubbing) but there was no penetration. And finally I got home and masturbated using my own saliva as lubricant.
Of course, after doing some internet research I´m worried sick of everything I read.(I'm sure you're aware of all the info that's out there.)
Could some one please tell me what diseases (std's or otherwise) should I be worried about and how much time should I wait to get tested?
On an even more shameful note, I stepped out of my marriage in this escaped, and now I don´t even want to kiss my wife (let alone have sex with her)  worrying I might pass something to her or to my 3 month old daughter who´s being breast fed.
I would very much appreciate some professional input and guidance on the matter so that I can ensure safety for my wife, my daughter and me.
Thanks a lot and greetings from Mexico.

Bienvenido al foro y gracias por su confidencia en nuestros servicios.

We get lots of questions about STD/HIV risks associated with oral sex.  The bottom line is that oral sex is low risk for all STDs and zero for several of them.  It's especially low risk from cunnilingus (oral-vaginal), for both partners.  Here's a thread with a detailed discussion of the topic.  Although 3 years old, the information remains accurate.

Based on the very low risk involved, there is no reason you cannot have sex with your wife or kiss her, or kiss you child.  And even if your wife had an STD, there is no way she would transmit it to your daughter.  STDs are not transmitted through breast milk.

So no worries.  Don't confuse your guilt over a sexual decision with STD risks from that decision.  They aren't the same.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD

Probably it isn't the lab's fault.  More likely, you didn't understand the nature of the tests you requested.  You should have gone through a doctor or clinic for professional advice, not directly to a laboratory.  Even with the doctor or clinic fee, it would have been less expensive than what you paid!

There is no useful test for HPV in men.  You should not have been tested for it at all.  And only blood tests should be used in people who have no symptoms and want to know if they might be infected.  And it was your mouth that was exposed -- but urine testing only is for infections of the genital tract.

Hi Doc, thanks a lot for your answer.

I don't have the specific names for the HPV and HSV tests yet because  they will  not be ready until monday, but I'll be sure to send you the names of the tests as soon as I have them back.

Sadly, the lab I used is one of the most trusted ones in Mexico, and aside from going to a private hospital, there's really not much of a choice for us.
At $125 bucks a pop, you would expect a different kind of service.
In any case, I'm not sure if I should post the name of the lab so that other people from my country can read this thread and know what to expect.

Thanks a lot for all your help. It's really helpful to have this kind of orientation in this situations. You guys are doing a great job with this site.

The HIV and syphilis tests are valid and the negative results will be reliable.

However, urine testing for HPV and HSV make no sense and are not routinely recommended by any STD experts who I know. Probably these were PCR tests. A positive result would show you are infected, but negative results would be meaningless; lots of infected people would have negative results on these tests.  I would have to suspect any doctor or clinic that uses these tests in asymptomatic persons to be in it for the money, and not for the patients' benefit.

Hi Doc, how's it going? I'm writing with a quick follow up question.
I know you said that given my exposure there was little to no worries about catching an STD. For my own peace of mind, I went and got tested anyways.
It was two months from my exposure last Friday, and I went to get tested yesterday. The test included:

HIV by quimioluminescence (hope the translation is ok)
Syphillis by serum agglutination (Same as above)
HPV (Urine test)
Herpes (Urine test)

The question: Is the time I waited to get tested enough to get conclusive results?

Thanks a lot!!!

Thanks for the thanks; I'm glad to have helped.  Also for the correction.  I guess "confidence" means secret, right?  Mi espanol es bastante bien, pero con vocabulario de une nino de 7!

Hi Doc.
Thanks very much for your answer. Actually I read as many posts as I could find in the mattaer, but my main concern was my daughter. I didn't came across any post regarding the breastfeeding question, which is now clear thanks to you.
Hopefully in the future I'll be writing to you with different kinds of questions instead of guilt guided concerns from stupid mistakes.

On another subject, when you said "gracias por su confidencia" you meant to say "gracias por su confianza". Both words mean the same but are used in different situations. (Just a little something to repay for your help)

Have a great weekend and thanks again!!!
