Zithromax dose

Is it safe to take 4 (250mg) pills of Zithromax in a single dose to cure Chlamydia? How about 2 (500mg) pills in a single dose? Is that considered overdosing? How long does it take to be fully cured after taking the necessary antibiotics? Thank you!

That is the recommended dose:  1.0 gram (same as 1000 milligrams [mg]); and it makes no difference whether two 500 mg pills or four 250 mg ones.  Even double that amount is perfectly safe, and is sometimes used, for example to treat gonorrhea or syphilis.  Chlamydia typically is cured with that treatment; it takes 5-7 days for the infection to be cleared up.

Good luck-- HHH, MD

i WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TAKING MORE THAN ADVISED BY THE PHYSICAIN. BE CAREFUL...DON'T START DOSING YOUR OWN PRESCRIPTONS.
