am i hiv positive

i had unprotected sexual intercourse & oral sex 2 years ago . Sept. 15 of this year  i was diagnosed by my doctor of having genital herpes because of the lesions on my sexual organ. I had outbrakes but tested NEGATIVE on that same day on the blood draw.  The doctor said, it's not in my bloodstream yet.  Also on that same day i tested NEGATIVE on HIV. Three weeks after having tested negative for HIV I went to get tested again by means of oral swab

1) is it possible that i contracted this virus (HSV-2) 2years ago and it's just now being active? How long is the window period for this?

2) is it now safe to say  i don't have hiv?  how long is the window period for this virus before it can be detected in your blood stream?

3) i have heard stories that HIV virus can sometimes be active or be detected in your body after 10 or more years because it depends how your body will react to the virus..IS THIS TRUE??

My doctor treated me for my HSV-2. it healed and on Oct. 6. of this year, i started getting sore throat. Lymph nodes swelling under my chin. I had tonsillectomy 15yrs. ago by the way doc. Severe swelling, to the point  that it wakes me up in the middle of the night and w/c started FREQUENT small outbreaks on my genital area. I also noticed doctor that, when i stopped taking Acylovir, the throat swelling becomes worse and it hurts bad, give me chills, slight fever, frequent outbreaks w/c are a few symptoms of HIV+ and it has been a month now since i got this. I tested NEGATIVE on streph and on Herpes swab on my mouth by the way.  I have not consulted an EENT doctor yet though and sore throat is not going away.

1) is this a symptom of HIV that is now just being active

i have a girlfriend for a year and a half now and she also had some outbreaks but tested NEGATIVE on blood on Sept. 15, and we don't use protection when having sex, because i know her sexual history if she's telling the truth..

RESPECFULLY YOURS,
Me

You need more information.  It sounds as though your doctor diagnosed herpes in you on the basis of the appearance of lesions.  if that was the case, you may have herpes or you may not.  Recent studies have shown that when doctors base their diagnosis on clinical appearances alone without culture tests, they are wrong about 1 out every 4-5 times.  If you have cultures taken from lesions which have recently appeared and they are negative and also have a negative blood test with a GOOD, type-specific blood test such as the HerpeSelect, then it is quite possible that you do not have herpes.  You might ask a dermatologist for his/her opinion the next time lesions appear to get to the bottom of this.  There are many skin conditions which can mimic genital herpes.

Regarding your questions:

1.  Most herpes appears within 3-10 days  following exposure and acquisition of infection. In a small proportion of people the lesions may not appear right away, showing up long after but that is unusual and since your blood test is said to be negative, this is not likely in your case.
2.  The blood tests are very good.  Believe them.  If you have not had unprotected sex in 2 years and have a negative HIV test you do not have HIV.
3.  No.  People who don't have the virus detected for 10 years don't have it detected because they don't look.  Blood tests are virtually always conclusive after 12 weeks (3 months)
4.  You don't have HIV.  Work with your doctor to find some other cause of your symptoms. they are not due to HIV.

(I do note that you say you were sexually active with your girlfriend now but above you say you were last exposed 2 years ago.  Please get your story straight.  I cannot help you with wrong information)
