arrow-azithromycin

I wasn't entirely sure what topic to put this under but here is my quesiton...

For months and months I've had trouble with my water works, I've had numerous urine samples, an ultrasound on my kidneys, x rays and I am now waiting on a cystoscopy. I've never felt the need to have an STD test because I have always believed my boyfriend was completely honest about his previous sexual encounters. However, he had two red spots appear on the end of his penis which we thought was thrush that I had passed to him.. he then passed some blood in his urine yesterday and got himself straight to the doctors. He told the doctor about my symptoms aswell and he said doctor said we could just be passing a bit on nasty bacteria back on forth, it could just be thrush, or it could be from going from anal sex to vaginal penetration without washing his penis. His doctor gave him the antibiotic 'arrow-azithromycin' and also a dosage for him to give to me to make sure we are cleared of any infection, my boyfriend never mentioned std's but when i looked on the internet i saw the antibiotic is prescribed to clear gonnorhea and chlamydia amongst other things. I really don't think my boyfriend would lie but I do wonder whether he's made up what the doctor has said when really he's found out he has contracted one of the aforementioned std's from sleeping with someone else (it would be impossible for me as he is my only sexual partner)

Sorry to give such a lengthy question but any knowledge on this drug or what i've said would be very helpful. thank you.

Well, that's the dosage for chlamydia.  If it was a bacteria from anal to vaginal, the dose would have been different.

I would say the doctor was thinking the "nasty bacteria" you all were sharing is chlamydia.

Yeah it was two 500 gm at the same time. I'm guessin this would never be prescribed if there was just a bit of trouble downstairs. It would have to be for chlamydia?

Each state has different laws about that.  Some states allow it, and in the states that don't, some docs will do it anyway.

Can you tell me what dose you took?  If it was 1 gm at one time, then it sounds like the doctor is suspecting chlamydia.

Also I didn't think his doc was allowed to just give me the drug aswell without even seeing me. What does anyone know about that?

The thing is i took them today though so now I don't think I'll ever know if I had anything. I have booked an appoinment with my doctor for next tuesday and I will ask him if its possible for the antbiotic to be given just a precaution or because of us both having problems downstairs.

The only way to know what you all have is to do some std testing before you take the meds.  It doesn't sound as if your bf even tested?
