azithromycin for gonorrhea?

by mikebeez, Nov 23, 2007 03:30AM
I've recently experienced symptoms of what appears to be gonorrhea.  I'm living in a foreign country and don't speak the language, so going to a clinic is going to be difficult.  I have some azithromycin that I brought with me to treat potential problems like traveler's diarhea (diarrhea) which I'm thinking about taking.  I read somewhere that a 2 g dose will treat gonorrhea, but that there are some strains resistant to azithromycin (especially in Asia, where I happen to be).  Does anyone know more about this?  Is it likely to work or not?
