bacteiral infection

this not really related to herpes...but there was no topic for bacterial infections. i live in a developing country (indonesia). im an australian citizen and my gf also western. we have been together a year and she recently had a weekend affair with another man here. within a month of this, she developed what i think is a bacterial infection. she has a foul smalling odour and white thin discharge most noticable during sex.
we have moved on from the fact she was unfaithful, but its making it hard to let go when this "thing" still lingering. we went to see a local doctor, but it was a joke. she first douched and cleaned my gf's vagina, then sent her to pathology for a scrape and sample. i would have thought that the best thing would have been to send her without cleaning her first. there are no sores or redness or anything, just a white discharge from the vagina, which comes and goes. the results were sent to the doctor who said it is a bactrial infection. she gave both of us doxycyclene course to take, 2 daily for 5 days. this hasnt worked, my gf still has the white discharge. pathology report stated the presense of the following :
gram negative bacilli
gram positive bacilli
gram positive cocci
no triconomas or yeast cells found
