broken codom

Had intercourse with an escort. She is 47. the condom broke and at the most I was unprotected for a minute. Iwent home and took cipro for 4 days 500 mg twice a day. Then i have taken dox for 5 days, 100 mg twice a day. Took a std test on day 7 and it was neg. If I was exposed would this medicine have taken care of the infection?  Should I take another test?

Welcome back to the Forum.  The odds that you got infected from this encounter are very low but not zero.  Here are the facts:

1. It is quite unlikely that you partner ah an STD.
2.  Even if she did, the majority of exposures to infected partners do not lead to infection.  This is particularly true for you because of partial protection by the condom (until it broke).
3.  The doses of medication you took were not correct.  Cipro is no longer recommended for gonorrhea treatment and doxycycline is recommended to be taken for 7 rather than 5 days.  Despite these facts, what you took would probably cure most gonorrhea, chlamydia and prevent syphilis.

Bottom line, I would guess that the chance you acquired an STD from the exposure you describe is less than 1% but it is not zero.  Further, the antibiotics could mask an infection for a while.  Personally, that would be good enough for me and I would not worry or re-test but if you want to be 100% sure, you could re-test at least a week after your last dose of antibiotics.  Hope this helps. I see no need for further work-up or testing.  Sometimes after an exposure that, in retrospect, one wishes they had not had, persons tend to examine themselves and be far more attuned to genital sensations than in periods when they are not concerned.  This in turn leads to noticing what turn out to be normal sensations that might have been not noticed or ignored at other times.  PErhaps this is a contributor, as your doctor has suggested.  EWH

I had a swab test done 5 days after last antibiotic by an ID doctor. It came back neg for Cly, and Gon. I have not had any discharge or burning during urination. I am confident that I do not have these infections. The syptoms that I still have is a burning in penis before urination and a pain on the side of my penis before urination.  After urination the pain and burning goes away. The ID doctor thinks that it is in my mind, this may be true but the burning and pain are very real. Is there anything eles that I should do?

If you were still taking the doxy at the time of your test on MOnday there is a very slight chance that the doxy could suppress but not cure your infection.  As I also said, this is quite doubtful but a possibliity.  The antibiotics could mask symptoms or alter test results.  Test results would be defintive about 3 days after you complete the antibiotics.  EWH

Thanks for your answer on Monday. I couple more questions..

Had another NAAT cly and gon test on Monday and the results were neg. This was a week after finishing cipro. i am finishing doxy today.

Is Monday test accurate?

Would the antibocs mask syptoms or mess up results?

I have had no discharge and no burning in urination.

Thanks
