brown spot on penis

brown spot on penis

hello,

ive had this brown spot on the shaft of my penis for some time now, i think a couple of months that I can remember.  Ive just began to pay attention to i the last couple of weeks and began to wonder if it is a genital wart. The spot is not raised and is a little bigger than the size of a pen head. its not shiny and doesnt feel like it has any texture or growth to it...its just kind of stayed the same. Anyway, i was wondering if this could possibly be a genital wart?  Ive been reading online and some sites say that they can be brown...is this true?  I also thought that warts grew kind of fast once they start, is this true? because some websites give different information than that. I had always thought they had a kind of cauliflower type appearance to them and were flesh colored. if you could please shed some light on this i would really appreciate it.

thanks

I cannot judge what I can't see.  It doesn't sound like a wart, but warts are highly variable in appearance, including flat, non-cauliflower lesions.  But you are right, warts typically are not pigmented.  In any case, the only way to know is to see a health care provider.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

sorry, but i forgot to mention that i have several bumps on penis, and years ago i saw a doctor who told me they were normal...anyway, is it possible that this could be one of those just a different shade?

thanks again
