burning penis

burning penis

I engaged in unprotected anal intercourse 3 weeks ago.  3 days after I felt a pin ***** on the end of my penis and slight pain while urination.  My partner had claimed no symptoms.  Was treated and tested anyway for hiv, syphilis, gonnorea, chlamydia.  All were neg.  About a week after most symptoms went away, but still intermittent burning.  Had another sexual encounter (protected) 2 days after started experiencing burning in the urethra and outside of head.  Doctor put me on bactrim for 3.5 weeks.  The burning in urethra stopped, however, started getting intermittent burning while urination again.  I also started noticing some red bumps near head that would only come out during hot showers and periodically when burning occurred.  Though not open and more irritated than painful.  At the end of the bactrim had a major allergic reaction: rashes, hives, itching feet, hands, and now a pinkish rash on head of penis coming and going. Went to emergency room.  given zithromax and rocephin  Now that i'm off the bactrim, the burning in the urethra has started again.  Went to urologist, thought it might be a male yeast infection.  so now on diflucan for 2 days.  Felt great after first dose, but that evening became irritated inside and out with pinkish rash look.  I'm at a loss.  Is it possible I do have gonnorea and what was given did not treat it?  Could it be herpes even though it's not open blisters.  The urologist examined my penis but of course the rash wasn't inflamed at that time.  Can you give me any advice?  Insight?

Whatever is going on clearly isn't an STD.  The symptoms aren't typical for any STD, you were tested and negative, and the multiples treatment you received would have cleared up any conceivable STD related to the exposure you describe.  I wonder whether your continuing genital symptoms are mostly reflections of anxiety over the event. I strongly recommend you stop all treatment, wait for at least 2-3 weeks (and just put up with any symptoms in the meantime), and then get reexamined.  My guess is that everything will clear up.  In the meantime, you can be 100% certain you have no sexually acquired problem that ever will harm you or a future sex partner.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

Thanks doc.  I had a feeling I might be giving myself anxiety over the situation.  Just needed another confirmed medical opinion.

Hi ,

if you read my two postings "evercontinuing herpes outbreak" or
"possibility of herpes" , I have been treated for almost everything without definite diagnosis, and my burning feeling and symptoms in penis are similar. Warm/ hot water to my end of penis is making my hair going up. I have rash in my left hand and in my neck. I have been overdosed with acyclovir but does not help.
So....I don't know. Do you feel itching?
