can std stay dormant for years and not show any persistent symptoms?

ive had unprotected sex about 3 years ago and a week after that, i noticed my urine turned "tea-like" in color. i had a urinalysis and was treated for UTI. just recently (about a week ago today), i noticed some greenish and some white cheese like discharge in my vagina. it doesnt smell and it doesnt hurt when i pee only that, it's really itchy and i feel a burning sensation. my question is, is it possible for STD (in this case, i suspect gonorrhea based of what i read) to be in me and stay dormant for that period of years without developing or showing some really tale-tell signs and symptoms of the infection? can it stay in the body for so long and just develop symptoms years later? ive only experience the "abnormal" discharge recently and i wanted to know if it's in any way a symptom of gonorrhea or other STD since it has been that long that i had unprotected sex. thank you.

greenish discharge is usually a bacterial infection.

Antibiotics typically cause fungal infections.

thanks. i forgot to mention that i was on antibiotic (for a molar extraction) before the discharges started showing. could it be the antibiotic that's causing the discharge? ive read it causes that too or could it be that the antiobitic triggered the symptoms of the infection? can antibiotics be considered triggers or are they cause for such discharges?

you aren't going to be showing symptoms 3 years later from gonorrhea.

be seen, find out what is going on and get it treated.

please just one post as is asked in our read before posting post on this forum. thank you.

does an infected person experience altogether the symptoms of gonorrhea, like discharges, abdominal cramps and all those other known symptoms of gonorrhea? or just by experiencing any one of those symptoms already an indication that u have the infection in you? how far gone does gonorrhea left untreated before it causes infertility? my concern is im probably having it long enough in me and it just didnt show symptoms early on. im worried that it might have caused damage already without me knowing it and i might not have any more babies.

thanks for that. i did experience some cramps before in the abdomen but nothing really serious that i had to be alarmed about. im really confused because the discharges just occured very recently so im wodering what could be the difference between discharges from a yeast or fungal infection from that of discharges caused by gonorrhea. i am really stressed out and im not having good sleep because of this. thanks.

you need to go and be seen and get proper testing done. don't self treat at home or anything.

it would be highly unusual for a std contracted 3 years ago to just now be causing your symptoms you are describing.
