chlamydia/gonorrhea window period

by vworried315, Jul 21, 2009 05:36PM
Hi,

I had protected vaginal intercourse with a sex worker 2 months ago. I got tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea at 2 weeks, results were negative.

9 weeks after the encounter, I experienced mild pain in scrotum for several days. Today I did an ultrasound and it was diagnosed as epididymitis. Dr. said it's most likely due to Chlamydia or gonorrhea, and ordered another test. I'm still waiting for the results, but I was wondering:

is it possible for the test at 2 weeks to have missed chlamydia and gonorrhea? In genera, is there any data on the window period for these 2 STDs?

(p.s. I had no other symptoms of either STDs except the mild pain due to epididymitis.)
Thanks

i'm having second thoughts now. I know for sure I got tested for chlamydia/gonorrhea 2 days after the exposure, but the test done at 2 weeks might have only been for hepatitis and syphilis. i'll check with my dr. tomorrow.

It was protected?  The whole time?  Because used properly, latex condoms should be more than 99% effective in protecting against std's.
