chron's disease and hep and hiv

Doctors
I know this is my last allowable post on medhelp, but my situation has drastically changed. Please review my original post – protected (unless condom broke) sex with csw in October and many tests that followed. I took Dr.Hooks advice and moved on with my life…putting HIV out of mind… but my stomach pain did not banish.  After further testing, I was diagnosed by endoscopy by a specialist this week with Chron’s Disease.  Further testing is being done now on my liver and kidney functioning (CMP, etc), as I have been a weekend binge drinker for 8 or so years (college and following, 1 night per week).
To help with diagnosis, I have an abscess that is located near my anus that was recently diagnosed as a cyst by a dermatologist.  He injected it with cortisone right about the same time my stomach began burning…probably releasing the abscess toxins in to my blood stream.  The abscess was there long before my encounter.
I have seen SO MANY doctors and you two are the only ones that seem to have the capacity to paint a clear picture.  In lieu of the Chron’s disease and its autoimmune nature, my General practitioner wants me to continue HIV tests beyond 6 months to a year.  I tested negative with rapid antibody and blood antibody tests at 5 months 3 weeks (and many times before that) and also with a NAAT at 174 days post exposure as well.  All other STD’s were negative as well.  Will my chron’s disease affect my antibody production and, even if it does, does the NAAT make my results conclusive?  Will chron’s affect my hep c results?  I just want to move on as it now seems I have Chron’s to focus my energy on.  I am exhausted from worry and stress and false diagnosis and appreciate your help. Please let me know any advice, STD’s and beyond, that you have for me…as I am not receiving good care by my doctors here.  Many thanks.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Dr. Hook's reply on your last thread started out "Get over it."  I can only echo the same thing.  Except for life threatening illnesses such as terminal cancer, or very high dose chemotherapy, no medical condition has any effect HIV or STD test results and you weren't at risk anyway.  Your own doctors undoubtedly told you that.  If you remain unhappy with their care, find someone else -- but an online forum is not a substitute for it.

It is not normal to be so unable to accept such overwhelming evidence and to remain fearful despite the repeated reassurances you have received.  It suggests an emotional disorder that might benefit from professional mental health care.  Talk to your doctors about it.  I suggest it out of compassion, not criticism.

Do not post any follow-up comments, which would only be deleted without reply.

I am not sure why your Doctor wants to continue testing you for STDs. CROHN`s disease is not an immunodefienciency and should not be involved in the bodies ability to produce immunoglubulins. It is an inflammatory disease of the bowel and there is some interesting research that it may be tied to intestinal infection of a type of mycobacterium. There are some new treatments for Crohn`s disease so good luck, hope you get to feeling better. By the way I have the diagnosis of Ulcerative colitis and am doing well on periotic meds.
