Wow I'm not even sure what would cause that rash. But definitely a good idea to see a doctor. I really am hoping you get it all sorted.
Did your gf take treatment at the same time?
I stopped taking the pills today I woke up in the middle of the night with a rash. my chest, arms, back and neck with red dots. I will be going to the doctor later to let him know whats going on. I took some Benadryl the itching stopped but still red.
Well they did do a culture and checked again for STD's ,showed up as NO GROWTH, but positve with something starting with an L. I'm glad the results were positive for something. Wouldnt an UTI go away on its own after several months? Because what i have is just discharge only, not pain or burning. About a year ago for about a week i had pain after urinating. I couldnt even move much for an hour. by the time i went to the doctor it was pretty much over. I had to see another doctor because my reg doctor was on vacation. That time she was like oh you have Gonorrhea and gave me a shot and 1 Gm of Zithro, but came out Negative that time too. In my head I always think it could of been a false negative because they took a urine sample then the swab test. She didnt seem to know what she was doing . Well for now discharge slowed down and seems more dry. 38 more pills to go.
Leukocyte esterase is not a bacteria. It's an enzyme produced by leukocytes, which are white blood cells.
The common urinalysis tests use a reagent which reacts with leukocyte esterase to change colors. That is used as an indication of having white blood cells in your urine. White blood cells indicate and infection, but do not point to the type of infection. You would have a positive result both for a UTI or something like a STD. However, depending on which part of the urine stream was tested positive, it makes something like a UTI more/less likely.
To really diagnosis you with a UTI, they should do a urine culture and grow whatever the bacteria is. Sounds to me like they are not bothering with that test. Unfortunately, I'm not surprised.
Remember, if your girl is still infected, she'll need to receive treatment at the same time in order not to pass back the infection to you. This would be true for a STD, but not true for a UTI, which is why it's a good thing in my opinion to have a real diagnosis first.
Still, even if the diagnosis is right/wrong, I'm hoping the treatment will be a success.
I think it was this I saw Leukocyte esterase
I hope that takes care of it. I will know in about a month if it was a success when i get rechecked again. I'll post the outcome.
Not familiar with anything starting with a "L", most common UTI bacteria is E Coli but beyond that I really don't know.
Glad you might have found the problem. Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon!
I went to the doctoer to get rechecked again for STD's. FInally something came up in the results. Came out with a UTI, doctor gave me 3 weeks of Bactrim DS. Showed me what it was but cant remember the two words, I just know it started with an L, said it was common in women, but not in guys and if I was a women it would of gone away on its own. I Hope this is the end of the discharge I have. I guess this came from holding myself from urineating. I work 10 hours a day and really don't like using public washrooms,
All of the info you posted about Ureaplasma urealyticum is accurate. It is pretty common, and in lots of people it causes no symptoms. But take that with a grain of salt, Chlamydia also causes no symptoms in many people. I am not making a direct comparison between the two, I am just saying that just because many people don't experience symptoms does not mean it cannot be the cause of problems for others.
But don't just focus on UU, there is also Mycoplasma hominis, and Mycoplasma genitalium. Mycoplasma hominis is usually harmless, but once again, not for some people. Mycoplasma genitalium is definitely NOT harmless, and it's harder to get rid of than Chlamydia.
Swab and urine tests usually only look for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. If they use the swab to look under the microsope, they might also see presence of white blood cells, which is an indication of infection.
The test I posted above is a urine test which will test for all three. I'm not saying that you will come back positive for the above, there's a chance you won't. But if you do, I will say that there is a very good chance you'll know what is causing your problems, and you can be treated accordingly.
i noticed there isn't much info out there on ureaplasma . my discharge seems to originate from tip, now looks more like pus. found this UU stands for a bacteria called Ureaplasma urealyticum. It is a bacteria that lacks a cell wall and is frequently found in the normal microbial flora of our bodies. It commonly dwells towards the end of the urethra (the tube that takes our urine from our bodies). It can cause human disease but it is not as common as other well known bacteria. It can cause an inflammation of the urethra.
going to call tomorrow see if i can make an appointment. so when they do the swab tests and urine test what do they generally look for?
It's entirely possible you had Chlamydia and something else at the same time. Lots of times something like 1g azithromycin will knock out Chlamydia but not Ureaplasma.
Keep in mind the majority of people with Ureaplasma infections don't have symptoms.
If it were me, I'd definitely test for Mycoplasma/Ureaplasma first.
i've been tested 5 times this year and back in sept i came out positive for Chlamydia me and my girl got treated she got doxycycline for a week and 1 gm of Zithro, i just got the doxycycline. We finished our meds i started to get that discharge i have now after the meds. thought i got reinfected. got tested a month later and came out negative, changed doctors, 3 weeks later tested again and still came out negative. wasnt going to give me anything but i told him about the symptoms. Gave me Cipro. a month later now and now seem to have a more heavier discharge. I do remember one of the doctors did mention something about plasma once. I did talk to my girl the other night about my sympotoms comming back but she don't have any symptoms.
It might do you well to look at the STDs which are common but not typically tested for. I think it's too bad most doctors don't look here, but I have a feeling in the future they will.
These are Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, and Trichomonas. All three can be tested through LabCorp.

Your doctor should be able to get the samples and send them in to this lab.
Since your infection seems to respond to antibiotics, I would try the Mycoplasma/Ureaplasma test first. Trich is a protozoan and doesn't respond to antibiotics (which kill bacteria). The deal with Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma is that they are typically a bit harder to cure than something like Chlamydia. Cipro is a pretty weak antibiotic as far as these infections go, so I can see how it might reduce the infection without clearing it. Once you know which infection you might have, then you can choose the appropriate antibiotic. Most doctors use the more common antibiotics, which are not always the most effective for these particular infections. If you do get test results and post them back here, I'll tell you which drugs are thought to work the best.
Are you also sure you are not getting reinfected? You are not having unprotected sex in between treatment? That's important to make your treatment successful.
