concern

Recently I went to my university health center and had what was diagnosed as a mole removed from my pubic area, they did a biopsy and said it was a wart. I am having trouble believing this and it is been stressing me out beyond belief because my track record has been clean and this place is known for misdiagnosis. I have been careful everytime I have had intercourse and I am confused because she said it was a mole and than later called and said it was a wart, should I try and obtain the specimen for a second opinion? Are these biopsies 100% accurate? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

This discussion is related to Can I assume a Misdiagnosis and that the doctor was just trying to rip me off?.

also I forgot to mention it had no characteristics of a wart, shape size, anything more of a mole. I am very concerned and am freaking out haven't slept well in days. Any advice would be appreciated.

It is standard policy that anything removed from someone needs to be sent to the pathology lab for confirmation of what it is.  Your situation is a classic reason why it's done - your provider's visual diagnosis was wrong.  No reason to doubt the pathology report of hpv but if you really think you won't rest easy until you do get a 2nd opinion you can request one to be done.

Being careful would mean that you'd never have sex with anyone when it comes to hpv. It's incredibly common and condoms don't always help reduce transmission of it.  No reason to freak out - it's an inconvenience and nothing more.
