crab lice?

I think I have crab lice; itching is the main symptom and I've noticed small black or red spots in my underwear. I bought the complete RID treatment at the pharmacy and then repeated it 10 days later as directions said to do. I'm still itching. I've not seen any actual crabs and I'm not sure if I've seen any nits or not. Could this be anything other than crabs? Should I try another round of RID?
On another note, how often should I wash bed sheets? Is it okay to wear jeans or other pants more than once?
