discoloration

Two days ago, I hooked up with a girl - no penetration, just slight oral, a hand job, and a few minutes of what I think in the gay world would be called frottage (no condom).  The frottage was pretty hard and at what I would consider a stressful angle.  Since then, I have been experiencing mild general soreness in my penis, although no pain or burning when I urinate.

Yesterday, within 36 hours of the event, I noticed a fairly large area of discoloration at the base of my penis, on the top and sort of off to one side.  The area is approximately 1 cm, dark purple, and feels otherwise normal except for perhaps a slight bit of tenderness when touched.  I've never had a bruise in a place like that, but that is what it seems like.  Is this most likely the case, or should I be concerned that this is  the early stages of an STD?  Please let me know if you need any additional information.  Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a bruise to me, and the activities you describe sound like they could have resulted in bruising.  No STD causes such discoloration.  Also, the exposure you describe was virtually zero risk, and STD symptoms almost never appear in less than 48 hours.  If uncertain, see a health care provider; or just sit tight and see a provider if it doesn't clear up in the next week or so, as a bruise should do.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

hi, i am not a doc but i have been following this forum for ages and have researched std's thoroughly due to my own "mistake" in the past. i would just say that if it looks like a bruise and feels like a bruise it probably is a bruise. i have never heard of an std described as you have described your prob. the doc will advise you but as you had no penetration your risk was virtually zero anyway and it sounds as though it got vigorous and you bruised yourself.Good luck although you wont need it.
