distressed

I know its possible for a newborn to contract gonorrhea from the amnortic fluid..
there was a c section and the baby still contracted gonorrhea... but how common is it and how does it accur?...
why some doctors believe its not possible?..

if an infant 3 weeks old was given antibiotic and 2 weeks later still show signs of the disease...is it safe to give that infant more antibiotic..

well i visited another Doc the same one who treated me for Gon before i got it again...i know how silly i am...am not with that person anymore thank God

i told her everthing hoping she would understand...she checked him out but has some doubts she wants to rule out nappy rash and allergies before she consider anything else  given a prescription and tell me to return in two wks.

and perhaps if it persist she will start him on some antibiotics..

at least its a possitive start I HOPE... the thing with these deseases they can hide and confuse you so its hard to diagnose at times..

thanks to all.

I agree with wonderingaloud, this really sounds like a different problem than neonatal gonorrhea. I hope your pediatrician can work to find out the problem and help . Take care.

I have a feeling this is not ghon but something else.  I cannot believe gon can be acquired the way you stated as once your waters broke the baby would have to be delivered relatively soon.  If you had an infection I assume you would have been able to know it some time during your prenatal care.  This is why I am not sure if you have gon.  In the US mothers are tested for this, all stds in fact as well as HIV.  In fact after babys are born in many hopsitals they put the cream all over their eyes and test the baby.  I am truly surprised by your post.  seek a second opinion perhaps from a pediatrician at a large hospital or teaching facility. Sorry you are going through this it is scary but likely an answer is on the horizon.  Good luck I wish you all the best.

Your baby needs to be seen very soon.  You shouldn't wait on this.

I'm so sorry to hear what you've been going thru with your baby but this is not the right forum to be continuing to pursue answers for this. You need to take your baby to be checked out again TODAY.  If your pediatrician isn't helpful then seek out the care of another institution.  This is not still gonorrhea going on and your baby needs further professional evaluation for all the symptoms.

I hope you get answers and your baby gets appropriate treatment :)

Go to a new Dr, tell them everything, just be open and honest and they will treat you and the baby the best way they can.
They did not treat you while you were still pregnant?

You need to follow up with your pediatrician.  No reason to sit and worry - just call tomorrow.

Yes, that might be a possibility.

Have you been treated for gonorrhea?

i saw it on the internet if either the uterus or placenter gets rapture during pregnancy it can accur then the virus enters through the placenter and infect the amnortic sack.

Or post in pediatrics.

Gonorrhea is transmitted to the baby when it passes through the birth canal, so I am surprised that the baby had it.

When you post in peds, make sure to give info about how the baby was diagnosed.

Follow up with the Dr, we can not give that kind of advice about medication.
