follow up question...

Yeah, so I posted here about 2 weeks ago. I had protected sex with a prostitute and a few days after I had a tingling sensation and burning/itching in my genital area. I went to see my doctor and he said no STD's but just some fungal infection and he gave me cream to use for 7-10 days. It's been past 7-10 days now and I still feel this itchy/burning and also this tingling, but not as bad. In addition to all of this, I have realy been feeling out of it and dizzy also sick to the stomach at times. My main concern here is are these signs of HIV. Also, what should I do about thsi tingling sensatioin and itchiness...did my doctor mis diagnois me or am I worrying too much. Thanks for your help.

Those are not symptoms of HIV.  If your doctor found nothing wrong aside from fungal dermatitis, there is little more I can do through online advice.  The sort of symptoms you describe often are due merely to anxiety.  But if in doubt, follow up again with your doctor.

Hi there! I'm in no way a medical professional, but I thought that I'd offer you peace of mine from my own similar experience before you get an official response from the doctor.

Your symptoms likely are a cause of anxiety. When I had an episode similar to yours where I believed I was exposed to HIV, everything that possibly could have hurt/ached bothered me. The instant I got my negative result back, everything went away! :)

Not being a doctor myself, I don't want to go in to HIV symptoms or tell you anything else other than when I went through what you did, (and even now slightly), feelings of anxiety/guilt seemed to cause most of the upset stomach/"out of it" feelings that I had.

All I can say is that the fact you used a condom (presumably correctly) reduced your risk exponentially of anything that you seem to be worried about. There are some posts by the doctor about similar cases that you might want to read until you get a specific response that may help:

Good luck - hope this little comment helps until you get an official response. Try and relax :)

I'm sure the doctor will give you the same exact answer when you asked the same exact question.

"How much more reassuarnce can there be? You have mine above and your doctor's. Your doctor is right on all counts. Your symptoms are not the early sign of an STD, more likely just anxiety".

Yeh but I still have the symptoms lingering and they are annoying. The tingling sensation and itching/burning now along with being dizzy and out of it. I guess I'll just wait to see what the forum doctor as to say.

If you focus your mind on something enough -- it WILL tingle. It WILL look weird and you WILL think there's something wrong.

TRY and relax! You may wish to seek counselling if you're having difficulties coping with this incident.

Good luck - you're fine.
