genital bumps....could they be herpes

On April 26th i engaged in sexaul intercourse with a new partner.  He wore a condom but it fell of during intercourse and as soon as i relaized this i has asked him to stop.  However i am about 99% sure that he entered me serveral times without a comdom.  Two days later i expericned some pain and discomfort in my vaginal area and an urgency to urinate.  I thougt i had maybe gotten a unrianry tract infections, as i am prone to them, suffering with them 5-6 tmes a year.  So i started to take Macrobid, the anitboitic, which usaully clears the infection within three days or so.  However, five days later i did not feel better and made an appointment at planned parenthodd for a urine culture.  The culture came out negative and the NP tolf me she could see yeasts cells developing and gave me a cream fro a yeast infection.  In addtion i noticed a bump inside my outer labia. The bump was small and looked like a pimple with white puss inside and was not extremely painful but tender to the touch. When the NP examned the bump she said it looked like a clogged gland, and not to worry about it.   After a day or so the bump went away and did not crsut over or scab as herpes sores do according to the literature ive read.  The dicomfort is no longer there, as well as the urgevy to urinate.  However three days ago, i noticed another a similar bump inside my labia, but in a differnt area.  I made an appointment with my OBGYN but the bump is decreasing in size already, and probally will not be very noticealbe buy the time i go to see her.  Do these bumps sound like they could be herpes

A bump alone, i.e. not a blister-like or pimple-like lesion, is less likely to be herpes.  And it sounds like you had other likely explanations for the other symptoms.  Further, most nurse practitioners at Planned Parenthood are highly qualified and have lots of experience with herpes.  Bottom line:  I doubt you have herpes.  But if more "bumps" appear as time goes on, try to be examined immediately (within a day or two) for the best chance at accurate diagnosis; or consider a herpes blood test.

Good luck-- HHH, MD
