gonorrhea

by rangertoast, Jun 03, 2009 11:52AM
This is weird about a month ago i started having symptoms of gonorrhea so i went to the doctor and he confirmed it was either gonorrhea or chlamydia. I have only slept with my gf and we have been going out for over a year. So natrually I ask her if shes been with anyone else she said no. I believe her cause shes never shown any of the red flags of a cheater and she really doesnt seem to be that type of person. so my question is there any other way in which I could have got gonorrhea if she has actually been faithful.

Not unless you had sex with someone else. STD's are only passed through sex.

But I have concerns about this whole situation. A Dr can not say that it is either gonorrhea or chlamydia, he/she needs to test to see which one it is. Second a lot of times symptoms such as discharge can be caused by other things.

Here is my advice. I assume that you got treated by now so any test would not matter at this point. But if your gf has never tested it would be wise for her to do so.

Yea she is getting tested to confirm it but I guess my question was kinda general. So basically I guess what im wondering is there any other possible way of picking up the bacteria from another source besides her screwing around with someone else cause i know I havent fooled around.

My first line says it all. You can only get a STD from sex. It is possible that she had gonorrhea and passed it on to you. But she might have picked it up months before you. Unless you have been with her for a couple of years.

Well we have been together for almost 15 months. I probably shouldnt worry until her test comes back. Only reason im not getting tested is im still messing around with my insurance and cant really afford it right now thats why my doctor did some general diagnosing and suggested she get tested cause she has insurance. thank you for your help.

So you have not been treated?
If not the try to find a free clinic and get tested.

Wait for her test results to come back but if she is positive then at some point you have to get tested. If she is negative then at some point you will have to see a Dr again to figure out what the problem is. It might be NGU which is caused by bacteria that can be found in the mouth.

well my doc gave me a perscription but in a way im hoping its not gonorrhea cause by all the info ive been getting she would have had to cheat to get it. Theres only one other possibility of getting it but its kinda weird embarassing if possible lol.
