help

i hate to be long winded, but i have to explain everything to be 100% certain. i was recently diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. this infection was severe and knocked me out for a few days. i was given amoxicillan 500mg 3x daily to treat. the very next day after i went to the doctor i was still extremely sick with a low grade fever, extreme soar throat, one particular white spot on my throat, and chills. i went to the emergency room hoping for an antibiotic shot. i did recieve a shot that really burned like heck in the buttocks along with 60mg of a steriod to help my immune system combat the infection. they told me to continue the amoxicillan, which i do. my throat seems to be feeling somewhat better, although i still have cold sweats and chills. now is where things get a little sticky. i was on the recieving end of unprotected oral sex about 11 to 12 days ago. i also noticed irritation when i urine. what would you suspect and is the treatment i recieved enough?

I'm sorry...i thought the question was related to getting an std through oral sex. It is only common sense to assume that if you didn't give oral sex to an infected individual, you most definitely would not be affected in the throat.  I apologize if my response alluded to that.  But my response also referred to your burning during urination.  So, I assumed that you were concerned about getting an std from the person if they were infected in the throat.  As I HAVE SAID BEFORE...I have no problem being corrected if I am wrong so again, I apologize for any confusion caused on my part.

And please keep in mind that if a PM was sent to someone, then other people responding to any publicly viewed questions posted on forum will not know what has been said.

As I said in the PM that I responded to, you received oral sex (your penis was in someone else mouth) your throat has nothing to do with that.

Is it possible you are not drinking enough fluids and you have developed a urinary tract infection?  Did they do a throat culture to rule out strep throat or tonsillitus?  Your immune system is very weak right now so maybe try ruling out the other infections before stressing that it might be an std.  Throat infected std's are rare.  It wouldn't hurt to call and see what your provider says.  Don't be scared to tell them your concerns.  There isn't much they haven't heard.  As a matter of fact, they have probably heard worse.  Try not to stress and get better!

i have read up on throat gonorrhea and i did notice that some of the symptoms are similar to what i have. could my urination burning be from something that is related to the respiratory infection, such as it getting out of my system?

irritation during urinating could be a STD, you would have to get tested for gonorrhea and ngu to know for sure.
those other symptoms have nothng to do with a STD.
