I will try to be concise. I am a 30 year old male..been tested about a year ago and was negative for everything.
About two months ago I got three bumps on my left hipHip joint replacement Hip pain/waist line. They got really itchy and then kind of faded away after about and a week an a half.
After about a week I noticed a similar bump on my right hipHip joint replacement Hip pain/waist line. Itchy and went away. However this was followed by a series of smaller bumps (about 5 or 6) further down my leg/upper/inner side. This pattern repeated on both legs. They would come and go and eventually seemed to spread into my pubicPubic lice hair area. Small reb/white bumps would appear and itch and then disappear. I had just finished a marathon so was thinking it could be heatBabies and heat rashes Heat emergencies Heat rash Infant heat rash Tenosynovitis rash/jock itch.
However itchingCauses of vaginal itching Eye burning - itching and discharge Itching Jock itch Muscle twitching Vaginal itching in my pubicPubic lice hair area persisted for several weeks and intensified about two weeks ago and then went away. After that time I proceed to get some intense burning along the left side of my groin and testicle. Last week I noticed a red bump on the head of my penis. The itching in the pubic area has faded however it has been replaced by burning/itching on the right side of my groin a few days ago with also some pain in my groin area. I have not noticed any blistering...mostly just red itchy bumps that wont go away. At this point in time the bump on the head of my penis is still there very small not blistering and the small itchy bumps are along both my inner thighs and hips spread from waist line down to the middle of my thigh...probably about about 8-10 on each leg spread throughout the leg/hip/thigh. It has been now over two months since I first noticed anything and I am freaked out. Some symptons (bumps/itching/burning/pain in groin) seem to support herpes. However, duration of symptons, no blistering, several bumps and the wide spread effected area does not seem to be herpes from what I read. I also have not had what I read as high risk sexual activity for genitial herpes
As far as sexual contact....I have had intercourse once in the past three months but used a condom. I have have oral sex four times over the past three months. I am freaked an have no idea what this is...Is it Herpes? 1 or 2? something else? another std? SOMEONE HELP PLEASE......
Grace is a great resource here. But to take a stab at it myself:
Get yourself tested. It's hard to say from your symptoms. They could be herpes, but they don't scream it out. Did you ever have a fever at first? Sore throat? Fever especially usually occurs with the first outbreak, but not always.
But since they have been all in your genital area, the "boxer shorts area," it is certainly possible for it to be herpes.
However, I have a recurrent rash which can spread, and usually irritates my hair follicles, occurs in my groin, can hurt, and is not jock itch. And once it even appeared on the head of my penis. And guess what? Tested negative for herpes years afterward. So in other words, get tested and stop worrying over it. If you're more than 8 weeks past your first symptoms, your test will be >70% reliable already. Then you can test out a 4 months to be sure.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. No I never had a cold sore or a fever. Have no idea how I could have caught this. I am really scared. Could it be something else?
I think this might just be punishment for getting up off the couch and like actually exercising ;) sounds like you have either a folliculitis going on or a bacterial skin infection or fungal infection going on. Heat, sweat and friction can set you up for skin issues like that. Go see your doctor or a dermatologist for a further work up.
Since it's on your mind - ask for a type specific herpes igg blood test just so you know your status along with other std testing. It's something we all should be doing periodically since it's better to find out you have something from a test than it is to find out after you've transmitted it to a partner. Also that way should you contract something later on down the road - you'll have a better idea of when it happened.
Thanks so much for responding. I am really hoping it is just a bacterial/jock itch infection. Was told that Herpes rarely spreads in the pubic hair region so was partially relieved. However when I started getting pain and burning in my groin as well bump(s) on the head of my penis it seemed to support herpes. Are these symptoms possible from non-herpes like infection? I know I should get tested..and I will..scared to death...thanks for the support. It is great to be able to talk this thru with someone.

Thanks Grace, I called my doctor today to schedule something. I also posted on the Dr site and they suggested that it may likely be scabies. Come to think of it I have had a few things going on that may not be a coincidence....rash itch under arm pits as well as behind the knee. Guess I need to check it out to really know. Thanks you again for all your help and advice. I am so thankful that people like you are around and here to help.
