herpes simplex 1

herpes simplex 1

I have always had occurrences of cold sores on my lips.  Apparently obtaining the disease from my mom, since she also gets cold sores.  I had never taken time to research cold sores prier to this occurrence on my chin.  I really had no idea that cold sores are so contagious, and that they can be transmitted to other parts of your body.  And after reading some research on oral herpes simplex 1 and genital herpes simplex 2, I can see why this is.  Most people are not informed of the causes and potential danger of oral herpes simplex 1.  One thing that contributes for this under statement of the virus is the name society has placed for oral herpes simplex 1, a simple cold sore, or fever blister.  This miss conception is ultimately dangerous in the end.  I my self had no prier knowledge of the potential danger I was of transmitting it to others, or to other parts of my body, by not taking the proper precautions.  Ever since I read some of the research on herpes simplex 1, I have developed several worries of the consequences of my past negligence, due to lack of knowledge about the transmittance of herpes simplex 1.

Now for my question...  I have had oral sex with my partner, and I do not remember clearly if in any of those cases i might have had a cold sore, I mean I don't get them often, like most people about 2 to 3 times a year, but my question is....is it possible that I have already transmitted the virus to him, and the virus is dormant, and may later occur, or is it that once you get the virus do you automatically get an outbreak?

Thank you for reading, and I am truly surprise that there isn't more awareness of the fact that oral herpes simplex 1 and genital herpes simplex 2, are very much alike, and transmittable to other parts of the body.
