Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7 days is one of two standard treatments for chlamydia.  The other is a single dose of azithromycin, 1 gram once (not 500 mg twice).  Both treatments are highly effective, but doxycycline probably is a little better than azithromycin.  The latter is often preferred by public health specialists and other doctors, but that's not because it is more effective than doxycycline; it is because some people don't remember to take all their doxycycline pills for the full 7 days.  At this point, just finish your doxy prescription.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
