I"m not entirely clear on the timing of which symptoms started when, i.e. how soon after exposure to a new (?) partner 4 months ago.  But scabies often involves the scrotum and can cause bumps in the skin around the genitals; if itchy and red, it probably was just scabies.  Scabies symptoms often persist after treatment, i.e. the rash and itching often take a few weeks to go away.  But whether that or something else is causing your symptoms--which I agree sound like allergy--is impossible for me to say.

I do not think you have any STD aside from scabies and I doubt anything serious is going on.  However, syphilis can cause a red bumpy rash on and around the genitals.  Syphilis rashes usually don't itch, but to be safe, you should have a syphilis blood test if it hasn't yet been done.  Other than that, I have no advice except to follow up with your own doctor, or see a dermatologist.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

Are the lumps like pimples (a bump with something inside them) or just a part of your skin?

What ever the problem is, you are in obvious distress. Go back to your doctor and show him the bumps, as well as telling him the itchiness has not got any better, and that your family is itching too. Tell him all your symptoms.

A thing some people find eases the embaressment of telling their doctor about genital problems to to write everything down as clearly as possible and hand this letter to your doctor.

Although going to a doctor about personal or sexual issues can be embaressing, it's very, very important - I mean, what is worse, being embarressed for a few minutes, or putting up with a physical problem that might last for weeks, months, years or even the rest of your life?
