it's been a week and i'm still experiencing pain from gonorrhea check

ok, i'm pretty sure that i was just being paranoid before and that i don't really have herpes or anything... i still have to wait for the test results to come back, but i'm pretty sure i don't have anything.

i'm not experiencing pain in the genital area when urinating, but when i'm going #2, i do experience a lot of pressure there... and when urinating it seems like maybe the doctor that did the cotton swab test for gonorrhea damaged the uretha... i know that i heard a "click" which i found out that it could have been skin cutting.

why is it still hurting after a week?  just about everyone that replied to my last post said that by the 3rd day they were fine... and do you think the doctor damaged something in the genital area?  could he have put a disease on the cotton swab or something?

thanks for the feedback guys... i guess this is normal.

quote: "its hard to quit thinking that you might have something. especially herpes. i still haven't coped. went to the doctor today, he took a culture of the head of my penis. hopefully that comes back negative and i can relax some more."

i'm the same exact way, everyone keeps on telling me not to worry and live my life... easy for them to say!!

I had a similar incident happen where I was swabbed and it was VERY painful.  It actually took a month until I was really feeling normal again. Mine also caused a lot of bleeding, but I didn't hear any noise with it.  And the swelling involved not just the opening of the urethra but also the glands and even some of the shaft.

Also, I had a bit of post voiding leakage.  This has all just about gone away but we are talking 7 weeks after at this point.  I've been told the penis is very slow to heal from this type of trauma, and while it doesn't even hurt for some, for others, it can be pretty horrible.

You can get herpes in the urethra, but its usually VERY painful, fairly rare to have without external sores, and even in those cases the sores can usually be seen in the opening of the urethra if you examine it.  Also, it will still usually be accompanied by swollen lymph nodes in the groin and a fever on the first outbreak. And, it will still usually be bad but then clear up and go away, not persist for weeks.  Of course, being such a variable disease, nothing is 100% sure.  But the odds are way against it.  So Nomad12 has it right.  If I were you, I'd expect the negative result, and in that case, just sit tight a couple more weeks and see of the symptoms don't eventually resolve.

In terms of the cotton swab - i had it done about 1.5 month ago, i find it ironic that i have having the same symptoms as you.  the hole of my penis has looked a little inflamed and red and when i finish urinated there is a bit of a drip that comes out afterwards.  i have been to 3 different doctors, and all have said that everything looks ok, but that i do have slight irritation on the head of my penis (contact dermititis is what one doctor said).

at first i was worried about herpes, but all doctors have reassured me that it's not and looks nothing like herpes. i have tested negative for all STD's, and had a culture done of my groin area for herpes and everything came back negative.  i still worrie a lot that i might have something going on down there, such as an infection, or even the worry that some of my tests could have been wrong.  i think the best thing to do is just not worry about it and see if it clears up.  all doctors will tell you the same thing.

if it's herpes, you will get sores around the groin area that will be painful and noticeable.  and i hear that they itch like hell and normally only last for a week or so.

i would like to hear if anyone else has ever experienced a tenderness/rashing of the head of the penis and what it turned out to be.

i apologize for not proofreading my original post before submitting... but i have to clear one more thing up:

"and when urinating it seems like maybe the doctor that did the cotton swab test for gonorrhea damaged the uretha"

i mean to say when urinating it seems like not all of the urine is emptying out of my bladder and when i think i'm done i'll leak a little bit.  sorry bout that again

I'd really try PCR instead of culture.  False negatives are nearly 70% of cultures.  PCR is much more reliable.  Though if your culture comes back positive, that result is reliable.
