this question is intended for grace, i read a post in here saying that labcorp igg test for herpes were bought out and now use another form of testing...what was that form of testing and is it reliable?...the reason i ask is i had testing done in september and my results form said they used igg type specific testing for hsv 1 and 2? is that still the herpeselect igg test they used before and is that a reliable test?....i was sent there by the medical testing center and they told me they are unaware of any different testing used by labcorp but the test they request is the igg test and that is what they get back...i suggested to a freind of mine to go through labcorp via the medical testing center is that a smart move for herpe testing and is the igg tyoe specific test the same as a herpeselect test?
labcorp is using the captia herpes igg blood test. You can read more on both the herpeselect as well as the captia test at www.herpesdiagnosis.com under the how can I get tested for herpes part ( they have great charts there that compare them ).
You really should just wait 4 months to get tested for herpes if it's a blood test other than the herpeselect ( 3 month wait for that ).
thanks for the information i went on the website and it was listed as as one of four recommended herpes tests....however, it does not give stats about acurracy rates it just says it is a new elisa type igg test, is that a good thing? in your expeert opinion would the capita igg test be acceptable form of testing or is the herpesselect test much better? or is there really not much difference other than the waiting period.
