lasting eurethral discomfort

by cajunwillow, Jul 12, 2009 07:04PM
Terrified friend - nurrse / doctor / help appreciatted!  Scenario:  male receive unprotect oral sex from risky female.  Burning, eurethral discomfort, + constant need to urinate begin at 4 days (no significant discharge).  Took 1 gram cipro at 5 days.  Early STD panel (labcorp) at 6 days (results came back all negative several days later for common bacteriall stds and hsv IgG and IgM, but antiobotics were started before test).  Received 1 gram azithromicin at 6 days, followed by another gram six hours later.  250 mg rocephin shot at 7 days, followed by 3 days of Cipro.  Symptoms faded for 12-24 hrs after recephin then returned.  Exmined by urologist at 8 days and prescrybed 7 days of doxicylene (to start after Cipro end) + urninalsis and penile swab (both later negative).  Symptoms improved significently over  10 days, except for occasional tenderness at tip urethra.  Also vague sore throat and dehidrated. Several almost normal days with regular self exam, then return of sensitive / swollen tip of eurethra  and minor discomfort at 20 days (thouh much less extrime than earlier episodes).  Discomfort / possible swelling at tip of eurethra persisting at 21 days.  No lesions of any kind on penis, though hot in Louisiana, so daily  pimples /redness elsewhere on body is normal.  Why is eurethra still painful / tip maybe a little swollen after all antibiotics and so many days?  Could there be a bacteriall prob that tests and antibiotics missed?  Does it mean this is viral or just related swelling / trauma and slow healing process?  Scared friend - Please don't answer litely.

You have been treated several times over.  You saw a urologist and tested negative.  At this point it doesn't seem std related.  You should follow up with your urologist and follow their advice.  Maybe someone else knows of something but it doesn't sound like this is std related.

Check into Mycoplasma Genitalium.
You need a DNA test to pici it off, regular lab won' be able to culture it.
Good luck
