male yeast infection

My girlfriend recently got a yeast infection and her doctor said i may have it as well.  I don't have any symptoms at all of a yeast infection so I was wondering if its possible to get tested at all for a yeast infection if you have no symptoms.  Thanks for any info you can give me.

There is no test, and also no need for treatment if you aren't having symptoms like a penile rash.  It is true that men who are partners of women with yeast can have the organism on and around their genitals, but so do many men who aren't exposed to infected women.  Yeasts are not considered an STD, and most yeast infections in women do not come from their partners.

Bottom line:  If you get an itchy rash of the penis, you might need treatment, but probably that won't happen.  Otherwise, don't worry about it.

I hope this helps. Best wishes--  HHH, MD
