massage and licking

Hello Doctor,
I had a nude massage couple of days ago.  The girl performing the massage, licked the shaft of my penis and scrotum for about couple of seconds.  She did this twice.  She then provided hand relief towards the end and worried that any saliva from the licking may have gone through urine passage while performing handjob. Now i'm really worried that I may catch something.

I have called my local clinic and explained what happened but they said I have to wait for 2 weeks for any kind of test as even a quick licking attributes to oral sex(so i was told). worried sick :'(.

I'm really worried. any information woudl be much appreciated.
also, for the sake of argument, what are the chances of me being infected if saliva did go in through the penis eye from the licking?

Many thanks.

ps, after i came home from the massage, i emailed the massuese asking if should be worried about STDs.  I was expecting a much amicable reply. does her reply imply she does have something for me to catch?. :

You need to read a more serious medical paper.  It's ME who put myself at risk by doing that, not you.  There is, statistically, more chance of catching a cold by being intimate with someone, then ever catching an std, including AIDS.

However, there is always the chance you may catch something...a while ago I had a strange spot on my lip.  It was suspected herpes but not confirmed! If I was you, I'd get myself down to the STD clinic at Kingston hospital...you can get a free std check.  However, they stick a swab tube up the eye of your penis...so be warned.  I went for one and ended up ******* the sexy nurse on his table!!  Amazing!!  I gave him a deep ******** then he XXXXX me bare back and came over my ***. Possibly the sexiest man I've ever met, lovely fat white ****...and around half a pint of sperm!

You take care Mr.  And good luck with the std thing

The symptoms of gonorrhea or NGU are penile discharge or burning on urination.

If you got herpes, you would have visible lesions.  No lesions within two weeks, no herpes.  Blood testing to detect infection following a recent exposure is a waste of time and money and not recommended.  EWH

Hello Doctor,
Thank you very much for your reply.

I've not got any symptoms so far....what symptoms should one expect for gonorrhea or NGU?

I have never had any cold sores in my life so does that mean that there is a possibility that I could have contracted herpes?  Is herpes only a possibility when there are visible signs? Should i still go and get myself checked even if there are no visible signs after 2 weeks?  and what kind checks should i ask for?

sorry for so many questions.

thank you.

Welcome to our Forum.  As your masseuse has indicated, there really is little risk to the exposure you describe.  If the only activity was licking and masturbation without your penis actually entering into your partner's mouth there really is virtually no risk of any STD, including HIV with the possible exception of herpes (more on this below).  If your penis entered the mouth the risk goes up but is still rather small.

The information you got from your local STD Clinic is overly conservative.  Further, had you gotten an STD, tests for most of the common STDs (i.e. gonorrhea or NGU) would be positive by day 3 following exposure and not require weeks to be positive.

I mentioned herpes above.  Your partner mentions a possible episode of oral herpes in the past and thus may have oral HSV which could be potentially transmitted by direct contact.  If you already get cold sores this is not a concern as your having had cold sores would protect you from getting infected.  If you have not had cold sores, the risk of getting HSV form this sort of contact is still quite low and not something to worry about unless you develop a penile sore or lesion in the next two weeks (this is the time period by which HSV would have become apparent- in the absence of lesions, there are no recommended tests which will be helpful in finding out if you got HSV form this exposure)

Finally, while your partner's note is rather graphic, there is nothing about it that I see as being worrisome.

I hope this comment is helpful.  EWH
