maybe its all a coincidence?

Hey guys, been a reader on here for a long time but figured maybe it was time to post.  I was in a five year relationship, the only guy Ive ever been sexually active with.  Near the end of our relationship, he admitted only AFTER we had unprotected sex as usual that he had unprotected sex with his 40 year old married neighbor. I obviously ended the relationship, and 2 and a half months later he got some bloodwork done at his family physician in which he tested NEG for HIV, HEP, SYPHILLIS, but they didnt take a culture for things like Chlamydia and Clap because he said he hadnt had any discharge or discomfort in the near three months since exposure.  We remained friends, havent slept together since.  Now, five months after our last unprotected sex I started experiencing some discomfort downstairs. By discomfort I mean just a general irritation and itch, not any discharge or discomfort urinating at all.  went to GYN, he said yeast infection, so he put me on diflucan AND another antibiotic for a really bad ingrown hair I had. I had a feeling the infection wouldnt go away as quickly because I was on the antibiotic and I was right, it seemed to come and go where some days I wouldnt feel any discomfort, and others more than ever.  I soon couldnt take it anymore, and went back and he prescribed me a cream which seemed to work WONDERS on me, started period day after and seemed like it was finally going away. Soon as period ended tho, the irriation came and went again. Im confused, it doesnt seem consistant with any STD, cause I know that itching alone is kind of rare for any of them without lesions, discharge or pain with urination and whatnot.  Give me some insight if you have any, thank you!

It does sound like a yeast infection. They can itch like crazy and sometimes they are difficult to get rid of. Fortunately, there are lots of treatment options. Also, eat yogurt at least once a day.
