no outbreaks????

I read that it's possible to have hsv 2 and not have outbreaks (or they're too mild to notice).  If my exposure was in August (I tested negative at 4 weeks and am waiting my 12 week results but i'm certain i caught it) and I still haven't had an outbreak that I've noticed, is that a good indicator that I won't ever get outbreaks (sores that open, etc)???  Also, it says to avoid sex during outbreaks and only protected sex between outbreaks.  If my outbreaks aren't producing visible sores on the outside of my genitals (i'm female, btw) how can I know when I should avoid sex??  Does my having HSV1 already make me more immune to having hsv2 outbreaks?
