one positive one negative

by confused1113, Mar 16, 2008 08:45PM
I got tested for all STDs and I came back positive for gonorrhea. My boyfriend and I were both treated, however he got tested before he received the treatment. He came back negative. We have been dating for four months and during that time we have had continuous oral and vaginal sex, and never with a condom. If I was actually positive, would I have definitely given it to him, or is there a chance that he never contracted it from me? What would be the explanations for this situation? Could a false negative, or a false positive be possible?

Either could be false results.

His could be false negative depending on how he was tested (urine, swab, etc), if it was urine, did he only give his first stream, or mid-stream or full stream, etc.

Yours could be false positive due to human error.

Its far more likely to be a false negative than positive.
