oral sex with tingling penis

A female gave me unprotected oral sex september I went to 4 different clinc already.  I just feel a bunch of tingling, stinging feeling on my tip of my penis.  I am uncircumsized.  All my test came back negititve except for type 1 herpes.  I went to the urology december 8 to get his opionion and he said there were no signs of blisters, sores, bumps so he said there was nothing he could do when I told him my symotms of my tingling, stinging penis.
heres my test results from November 2nd
hsv igm ab screen                    detected A (not detected)
hsv igm ab titer                        20 H (10 titer)
hsv 1 igg ab                             >5.00 H (index)
hsv 2 igg ab                             <0.90 (index)
Do you think I have got the gential herpes from that female? Or I dodge the bullet?  What will cause these constant tingling feeling?  Did herpes be in my nerve in my penis thats causing these tingling without and sores and blisters?

Welcome to the STD forum.

It is a common misconception that tingling or burning pain is a herpes symptom, in part because many websites and other education sources indeed list such symptoms.  However, these symptoms probably never occur alone; the skin may tingle or burn for 1-2 days before onset of herpes lesions, and when lesions are present.  But persistent burning or tingling, or their occurrence without visible skin lesions, simply doesn't occur with herpes.  Had you asked me (or come to my clinic) before being tested, I would not have recommended testing for HSV.

As you already know, your test results are negative for HSV-2 and positive for HSV-1.  You probably have had HSV-1 since childhood, probably an oral infection.  There is no way to be certain it isn't genital, but if so, it isn't the explanation for your symptoms.  To the specific questions:

1) It is quite certain you did not catch genital herpes.

2) Such symptoms are quite common and usually seem to be attributed to genitally focused anxiety.  Whatever the cause, it isn't at all harmful to patients or their sex partners.

3) As explained above, herpes is not a likely cause of such symptoms, especially in view of your negative HSV-2 test.

Continue to work with your own doctor(s) about the tingling if it continues and is bothersome.  However, you can be reassured about herpes or any other serious health problem.

Regards--  HHH, MD

From my replies above, it is obvious this makes no difference.  If she has genital herpes (probably HSV-2), she can't transmit it by oral sex.  And since you already have HSV-1, even if your partner has oral herpes, you couldn't have caught it.  There is no point in additional testing.

This thread is definitely over.  Continued anxiety-driven comments will risk immediate deletion of the entire thread.

Hi doctor I contacted  female yesterday that gave me oral sex.  I asked about her std backround and she confirmed she has herpes.  What should I do now?  Are my chances still low catching gential herpes?  Should I get retested?  It will be 3 months to this day that I was exposed to her.   In your profession do you think I might be std free from gential herpes?  Thank you

Hi Doctor, First let me just say I thank you so much for your advice,  Im really worried because I was told by a friend that the girl that gave me oral sex has herpes and I did not know that when she perform oral sex on me.   I never knew my history about my type 1 herepes after I got tested after my exposure and that also worried me.   I dont understand why someone would perform oral sex on me if they know they have an std.  Should I get retested again, and have 1 more opinion from you, or maybe I did not catch it from her.  Its been since sepetember from the last exposure and to this date i had no blisters, bumps, lesions, just tingles and sting here and there.  I appricate your advice.

1) Once a person is infected with HSV, s/he is immune from catching the same HSV type again, anywhere on the body.

2) Very low chance.  Maybe 1 in 10,000, tops.

3) "Possibility"?  Sure.  It's also possible you'll get hit by lightning someday.  The odds are against both.

4) If you had been infected, you probably would have had symptoms; and they would have occurred within a few days after the exposure.

5) I can't diagnose you either.  Just because you don't have a cause for your symptoms doesn't mean it's herpes.  All the evidence is against it.  See answer no. 2 in my original reply.  "It's not anxiety because I can feel it" is nonsense.  Anxiety-generated symptoms are just as real as any other.

6) It is not possible to tell from a blood test how long you have been infected.  See paragraph 2 of my original reply.

You have my professional opinion, which was to settle your fears about herpes.  Sorry if it didn't work, but that's your problem, not mine.  I won't have any further advice.

2.If that girl that gave me unprotected oral sex what are my chances of getting herpes if she had herpes?  3.Yes you did mention that my symotom does not sound like herpes, but is it a posiablity that symotom might be herpes?  4.I had unprotected oral sex with that girl in september and if I did show signs of herpes I would already have blisters, sores, bumps, legions already right Dr.??? 5. I already seen a handful of dr and they cant dionoise me!  Do you have any idea what my tingling, itching, stinging feeling might be??  Its not anxiety because I can feel it .6.  Does the reading from above tell you I had type 1 herpes for awhile??  My tingling feeling goes on and off everyday =/
