oral sex

Hi Doc,

I have had frequent protected sex with female sex workers in China ( I am a male ).
Last week I had unprotected oral sex followed by protected vaginal sex with a female sex worker.
However after ejaculation the prostitute removed the condom and proceeded to give me oral for about 5 minutes. She also rubbed her vagina on my penis for a few minutes.
Making the presumption that she has some sort of STD ( just because of her profession ) what sort of risk am I at for contracting HIV or any other STD from the above 2 situations.
Really worried and need some help !

Thanks,

dab3ast

The risk of any STD from the exposures you describe is low. You cannot acquire HIV or an STD through an intact condom, and HIV is virtually never acquired by receiving oral sex.  In general, STD risks also are low for oral sex.  There is a small risk of gonorrhea (look for abnormal discharge from the penis, which would start within a week after exposure); herpes (look for blisters/sores on the penis starting within 2-3 weeks after exposure); or syphilis (painless penile sore starting 1-2 months later).  If you don't develop any of those symptoms, you do not need to be examined.

Bottom line:  Good for you for having safe sex.  You protected yourself.  Keep your eye out for those symptoms, but otherwise don't worry about it.

Hi There dab3ast,
i got one question for you.  was the vagina-penis rubbing condom protected or not.
Dr. HHH, if the vagina-penis rubbing was unprotected would your assestment of the risk and situation be the same?
Thank you both

Genital rubbing is much lower risk than penetration, for all STDs, and zero risk for HIV.
