oral sex

I had oral sex w/ a male on Dec 23rd. I take 500mg of Tetracycline everyday for the last year. When I miss a dose my throat always seems scratchy. I need to clear the disturbance often. Does 500 mg of Tetracycine kill gonorhea of the throat? Is it possible I am infected after taking Teracycline right after the act, which occured 10 weeks ago. I have had no other sex since Dec 23rd.

I would try Proactiv or something for the acne, instead of taking an antibiotic every day.

And Brian is right - tetracycline won't cure either chlamydia or gonorrhea.

Consistently taking antibiotics isn't very healthy. It can really disrupt the natural flora of your gut, mouth and throat. Your scratchy throat could be contributed to an over abundance of candida or other organisms that aren't affected by the tetracycline. Are you self medicating or is this part of some other kind of doctor's program?

Secondly, tetracycline is second generation antibiotic. The tetracycline family group replaced older sulfa antibiotics of the 1920's and 1930's. Its a broad spectrum antibiotic that can kill gonorrhea, however, gonorrhea has become increasingly resistant to this class of antibiotic... particularly in the MSM community. Constantly taking this drug could cause you to form resistance.
