"The next day" is almost too soon for an infection, perhaps more likely a chemical irritation due to lubricant in the condom, especially if it contained the spermicide nonoxynol-9.  This is one reason that most STD experts recommend against spermicide-containing condoms; N-9 can be quite irritating and doesn't protect against STDs or HIV.

However, there is a slight chance these are the early symptoms of urethritis (e.g., gonorrhea) or herpes.  If a chemical irritation, the symptoms should clear up in another couple of days; if they last longer or if you get discharge from the penis or any kind of bumps, sores etc, see a health care provider.  In the meantime, avoid sex with anyone (even with condom) until things are sorted out.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

Since the sex you had was protected it's unlikely you've contracted an STD, although herpes does have a short incubation period and one of the first syymptoms is tingling or burning. The tingling generally only lasts from 12 to 24 hours, and then small blisters appear.

Was the sex particularly vigourous? It's quite possible that you've simply bruised yourself.

If your penis is still hurting a week after it began, or if it starts getting worse, or if small blisters start to form, I suggest you go and see your doctor. At the least it will put your mind at rest, and if you do have an infection your doctor will need to treat it.
