recurrent gonorrhea?

Hi there. my doctor told me that i had gono last november 2009. I took ofloxacin for a week and the symptoms (penile discharge, urgency to urinate, penile pain (sensitive), back pain) were gone. However, just last week, the symptoms went back, albeit in the intensity of the symptoms were less compared to the symptoms last november 2009. no sores still. just red penis. is it possible that this is just recurrent gono or this is herpes already?

My doctor told me not to worry about herpes because i had no sores despite my other symptoms. She diagnosed me with gono with just a urine analysis (i'm not sure if you can diagnose a person using just a simple urine test, i don't know if something has to be done to specifically pinpoint the bacteria) and I'm not confident with her.

I had unprotected sex with my ex girlfriend twice about a month ago from now 3 weeks ago i had some discharges coming out of my penis... so i told my dad about it who scolded me since i had the same problem before when i was 16 i had sex with a prostitue and got gonorrhea... so we went to the same doctor and got prescribe to take unasyn 500mg for 5 days.. on the 3rd day the symptoms gradually disppeared and it look liked i am treated after about 3 days the symptoms started again... went back to the doctor after another 2 days ang got prescribe zithromax 500mg once a day 3 days ago the symptoms stopped... now i check my pants and it seems i see some stains again... am i paranoid or am infected again? I dont wannt ho back to the doc since i dont want my parents to know id get scolded again... i dont feel any itching or pain during urination i dont feel that the is something coming out of my penis but i just basing it on the  stain on my underwear i dont know it could just be regular stain or i dont know might just be paranoid.. if i get stains and symptoms again should i just take the same zithromax medication longer? Any advise would greatly help..

Unfortunately, all you can do is follow up with your doctor or seek a second opinion.  Perhaps ask for a referral to a urologist.  Sorry, but we cannot provide you with the answers you are looking for.  You need testing which cannot be done on the internet.  Please, follow up with your doctor or a new one.

No, gonorrhea is not recurrent but you can be re-infected either by the same untreated partner or a new infected partner.  You would need to get a full std panel to rule out or in other std's because your symptoms are too general to all of them or even other ailments.  Make sure to specify you want them to include hsv1 & hsv2.  It is not routine to test for herpes.

my gono was treated and my doctor said that gono does not repeat. she also said that syphilis may be present even w/o the obvious sore and even herpes. I only
underwent a general urine test to see if there was infection but not to determine which std.

Gonorrhea can indeed be detected through a urine test. It is actually easily detected in men.  Why do you think you would have herpes?
