This sounds very similar to my problem. I am 21. i had thrush quite a few times after first becoming sexually active. I treated it with canesten and other creams and it kept going then coming back. Then i got a urinary tract Infection and was on antibiotics for that and the thrush came back. I then went through a hellish period of Urinary tract infections alternating with thrush. finally i got the utis under control. but my vagina was still sore, itchy and occassionaly producing thrush like discharge. but tests did not show positive for thrush. 2 years later i still have soreness and am unable to have sex, find putting tampons in painfull and am generally miserable as a result. all tests for stds have come back negative. the gyno says i have sensitive skin. she gave me betnovate, a steroid cream. it didnt make a difference.  i dont use soap, i wear loose airy clothing, use hypo allergenic toilet paper, minimal detergent on my clothing, have always wiped front to back, etc, etc. nothing has made any difference. the doctors shrug their shoulders. I am not getting used to celibacy.
