slight bleeding

by BJ2626, May 19, 2008 08:20AM
I have noticed slight bleeding after intercourse..I do not have any symptoms of chlamydia or Gonorrhea. The slight bleeding goes away after sex and It is more like a light pink that is mixed in with secretions. The penetration of sex is strong..could the slight bleeding be a tear with penetration being forceful?.I do not have any abd pain, urinary pain,discharge...

Just went through a normal cycle period less than a week ago....

It could be chlamydia, a hormone issue, irritated skin, etc.

The only way you will know is to go to the doc and get checked.

...I am also on a low estrogen birth control-have always had slight spotting btwn periods and my doc stated the bleeding btwn was from the low estrogen...Could my cerivx be trying to adjust to the size of his penis after being dormant for awhile?

It could be hormonal.  It might also be irritation from sex.  Your cervix doesn't go dormant, but if he was on the larger size, it could be from that.

Why not just get it checked?  There is no cause for panic.  Just get checked.

This is from another thread that you wrote -

Hi-
Went to the dr. on wed. to be tested..waiting for the results is truly killing me..
He stated that he thinks I have BV and looked under the microscope. He gave me flagyl bid x5..but stated that does not rule out any stds...I still have not had any symptons except for abnormal discharge, an uncalled for odor(bad)though sometimes I cant smell it.The thing that is bothering me is the abnormal bleeding...sometimes is a light pink mixed in with the discharge other times its bright red..then brown at times but not enough to have to wear anything but a lightday.Sometimes I feel some cramping but then I think it just may be in my head...sorry this sounds crazy but my nerves are shot. Any help with this is appreciated...
Also with the flagyl side effects as far as the discoloration of urine/feces..what color is it primarily?
I need a drink so bad but of course with flagyl you can not have it...

Cramping is common with bv.  I don't think flagyl would discolor your urine or feces.  You can call and ask your pharmacist if this is a side effect you should be concerned about.

My presc.bottle has a sticker that states discoloration of urine/feces may occur...
When abnormal bleeding is associated with chlamydia is there a certain color or consistency that usually occurs..b/c mine seems to be every color. I am just not used to seeing the light pink..?
thanks

by auntiejessi, May 23, 2008 12:06PM
If there is a typical color, I am not aware of that.

Just take the meds, wait for your other results, and try and calm down.

could I have had chlamydia and not had any signs until sexual intercourse with a new partner? I started to have the abnormal bleeding and unusual discharge after the first or second time we had intercourse. What is the likelihood that i have given it to him if that be the case..we have had intercourse 5-6 times?
thanks!

by gracefromHHP, May 29, 2008 07:29AM
You said you went to the doctor and got tested. Well what did they test you for? Did you ask for std testing ?  If you aren't sure if you were tested for chlamydia or not give them a call and ask.

Bv can cause irritation that can cause the bleeding you've been having too.

Also has your new partner been tested for std's? If not they need tested too.  You seem to be assuming that you had something you could've given your partner instead of considering thatyour partner has something that was given to you.  Cover both bases if you are concerned about it this much.

Could it be possible that I had chlamydia without knowing  before I had sex with a new partner? The first time I had sexual intercourse with this partner I began to have slight bleeding and some pain during intercourse.By now though if that was the case he may have already received it from me?
I sincerely apologize for the continuous questions i am still trying to wrap my head around the results I received this past wk...I have already been treated for the std.
thank you for your help

Hello-
my male partner has taken zithromax-1 gram dose for chlamydia..he told me though that he took one 500mg last night and the other 500 mg this morning..Will the antibiotic still work and will it be safe to continue sex two days after the antibiotic was taken?
I have previously taken the antibiotic and had symptons reccur..I was subscribed another dose of azithro.-1 gram taken 2 days ago.

Thank you for your help!

by gracefromHHP, Jul 16, 2008 07:03AM

You need to wait a full week after you BOTH are treated to resume sex.

grace

by auntiejessi, Jul 16, 2008 10:09AM
He also needs to take the 500 mg pills TOGETHER, not 12 hours apart.

This might work, but he needs to call his doctor and ask about re-treatment.

Yea.. I told him that before he took them...
Is zithromax 1 gram dosage as effective as doxycycline 100mg bid x 10days..is tetracycline also used for tx of std?

thank you again for your help!!

by auntiejessi, Jul 17, 2008 11:11PM
Yes, its just as effective.

Tetracycline isn't used for stds.

is there an antibiotic that can be used to treat a bladder infection and chlamydia..
since the symptoms for both are similar?
Would doxycycline work?  and would the antibiotic be as effective for a man?

thank you

by auntiejessi, Jul 18, 2008 12:54PM
Doxy wouldn't work on a UTI, probably.

If I knew why you were asking this, I could help more.  Are you trying to not tell a partner you have chlamydia?  Have you actually had a positive chlamydia test?

Well no..because he has taken azithro. 1 gram but took them 12 hrs apart...we had sex less than a wk after they were taken..and i didnt have any abnormal bleeding the first couple times but about the 3rd time after I did.I had had two doses of the antibiotic already...could it still be in my system or is there another reason for the abnormal bleeding b/c there is not any pain during intercourse and the light bleeding is gone after sex?

by auntiejessi, Jul 22, 2008 07:05PM
OK I'm trying really hard to figure this out.

So you both had a chlamydia diagnosis, and you had some bleeding.  He took the meds, but took them wrong, and you had sex before a week was up.  Now your bleeding is back, and you are wondering if you have it again?  Or you did once, but its not anymore?

If I were you both, I would go get retested a month from when you took your meds, and make sure its gone.  Then, if its not, take the meds correctly, and wait the full week.

If you test sooner than a month, you don't know if its a truly accurate test, as sometimes dead chlamydia DNA can cause a false positive.

yes..we both had a pos.culture for chylamdia...I took a gram of azithro. and waited a wk. before having sex again..this time he had not been treated yet...I began bleeding again during intercourse so I told him of my diagnosis and he was tested. I was given another dose of 1 gram azithro and he was given the same and that is where he took them seperately. I took mine together and waited three days bfore having intercourse again and the slight bleeding didnt occur until after intercourse several times later and went away right after. So I may still have the std but need to wait to be retested?

by auntiejessi, Jul 22, 2008 11:05PM
Yes, but if you call your doctor and explain all this, he/she might decide to retreat you now.

Its really important that you all wait the full 7 days.  Each time you get chlamydia, you can cause scarring in your fallopian tubes, and that can cause infertility and chronic pain.

Hello,
I went for my annual and had them to restest for chylamdia just to make sure. My results came back negative..but I am still having some of the symptoms. Is there any thing else it could be? I double checked with my nurse and made sure about the results and she reassured me they were negative but i am still having some bleeding and abdominal pain

by auntiejessi, Feb 15, 2009 04:10PM
Yes, your pill could be causing this, and you really need to follow up with your doctor about this.  Be assertive with your health care - you are your own best advocate.

Hi,
Are you saying that the antibiotic could have made my test negative but has not gotten rid of the bacteria?

by auntiejessi, Feb 17, 2009 04:34PM
No, I meant your bc pill could be causing this when I wrote my last post.  You just need to follow up with your doctor about this.

I went back again for the second time this yr for chylamdia/GC testing and it showed up negative again but my doc went ahead and gave me dioxycycline 100mg bid for 7 days..Do i need to wait 7 days after I finish my last pill of dioxy.to have any sexual intercourse or 7 days from when i first begin the antibiotic?

by auntiejessi, Mar 03, 2009 07:00PM
If they are treating you as if you are positive, you should wait 7 days to have sex, and your partner should also treat.

My partner results came back negative.... So wait seven days from the first day I take the antibiotic and not 7 days after I finish the antibiotic?

by auntiejessi, Mar 04, 2009 11:23PM
7 days from the first day, if all your antibiotics are gone by then.

I just recently had intercourse with my partner after completing my course of antibiotics and actually waited more than 7 days before having intercourse with my partner whose results came back negative also...after intercourse though I still had the bleeding afterwards. Is there anything else that this could be?

Oh it can be lots of things - hormones, bacterial vaginitis, etc.  You need to follow up with your doctor.

ok Im schelduling an ov with him this wk..it seems like I have been there so many times already this year!!
I figured it couldnt be another std seeing that i had bleeding the first time after a tx of antibiotics and his was negative(he was sick last week and was given a tri pak...so that would have cured the std anyway). It is just really bothersome when it is downplayed and your know this is not natural for my body...

by auntiejessi, Mar 16, 2009 05:09PM
I agree, and while we all know we have to be our own best advocates, sometimes that's an exhausting and frustrating job.

Feel better, and let us know.
