small crusty sores on penis

Hi,

Just recently I have noticed that I have two small crusty sores on my penis. They are almost like cuts but have a patch of dry skin around them. I have been looking around at any STD that looks like this and was thinking possibly Herpes type 2 recurrent as a possibility. Although the sores do not hurt or produce any pain if coaxed and there is no major breakout just these two near the base of my penis.

My questions are:

1. could I have herpes?

2. how could I have got it?

3. are there treatments for this, whatever it is?

Thanks a lot,
James

It might be, but you need testing done to find out if it is or not, and if they've scabbed over already, it will be hard to get an accurate culture.

You can ask your doctor for a type specific IgG herpes blood test and find out that way.  If you have genital herpes, you got it from sexual contact.

There are treatments, but no cure.  Check out our herpes forum for more info.

I don't understand I have never had sexual contact with anyone and am not even old enough to have sex!

I have heard though that you can be infected during child birth although it is rare. Sound like I may have to go to the GP.

Thanks anyway

Well, James, it would have been good info to have up front that you are a child who hasn't had sex.

If you haven't had any sexual contact, you can't have genital herpes.
