small red bumps

small red bumps

3 days ago I had unprotected sex and yesterday I noticed some small red bumps on the shaft of my penis. They are very small, about the size of a pinprick, and are not painful, irritated, or itchy. There are probably about 15 small spots all in the same general area. They feel just like normal skin (they aren't hard or anything) and are just barely protruding above the skin, barely noticeable. Is this an STD? Please help me.

It's hard to tell, perhaps will become obvious over another 24-48 hr.  So far I'm not particularly concerned.  Herpes is the only STD that could start with penile lesions so soon after exposure, but this doesn't sound like herpes.  Was there vigorous oral sex that might have caused superficial bruising (basically, a hickey)?

If it gets worse or develops blisters at any time, see a health care provider; or if no change after a few days.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
