staph

by rich7, Aug 03, 2008 03:24AM

Just to chim in nervous, your not paranoid, I'm going through the same thing. Situation almost sounds similiar. Not being transmitted sexually I doubt that. I got staph from getting a culture swab checking for std's. So if I can get it from a swab and its in my semen how could it not infect someone during sex?. Are you still having symptoms?

I will say that staph is not my area of expertise, but I would say it would depend on the particular staph bacteria.  Some are just found naturally, and wouldn't cause symptoms, others aren't, and might.

MRSA is a staph, and it can be transmitted sexually.  All I could suggest is that your partners see their doctors for testing, and treatment if necessary.

Thank you for your comment .
Maybe you could help me out. Heres the soap opera I'm stationed in German. In April got checked for STD's.... Neg Gonneareah, chlymedia, trichominosis positve for staphylococcus a staph infection, the german dermatologist who tested me said    you can have sex with your pregnant partner no problem, it"s ok its on yourskin. Not knowing better I did ,twice.
3 days later Right testicle pain and when I ejaculate it looks thick, yellow and resembles rice balls or insect larva. I go to a us doc he gives me std coctail, azithromax and ricophin, no relief, then he gave me levofloxcin. 30 days no relief.
Went to german urologist and I gave them a semen sample. positive for staph.
Unfortunatly results we over the phone while I was in NYC on leave. They said get COTRIMOXAZOL ( think u can only get it in europe) There chart said my staph is not resistant to it. But a stateside doc only gave me DOXYCYCLINE. Some relief and it got rid of the yellow larva like ejacualation. Halfway through the DOXY dose Im back in Germany with Urologist. He says stop doxy wait 5 days give another semen sample. I do
and 10 days later results...no staph, he give me no antibiotichs despite pain. 10 more days pain persist doc gives me the cotrimoxazol. I wonder should I take it. I practically begged for the drugs but had bad luck with others... confused my pregnant partner got checked by her gyno not sure if it was specific for staph, gyno says only good bacteria. advice aj please

Well, I had to google co-trimoxazole, and its Bactrim in the US.  If the test showed that your infection is sensitive to this, you should take it.

Your partner should check with her gyno, and make sure an endocervical culture was done.  If it was, and it showed no staph, she's fine.
