i think it would be kinda weird too to have symtoms of any std in only 12 hours. i'm not an expert, but i've researched a lot and it seems that they all have at least a 24 hour incubation period. clearly something is going on but boy...i'm just not sure it could be from an encounter only 12 hours earlier

Essentially any infection can cause swollen lymph nodes.  For instance even a cut on your arm which gets a mild infection might result in the same side underarm lymph node swelling.  And often for example with a primary herpes infection, the groin lymph nodes will swell.

However, dry mouth and nausea, that sounds like anxiety more than a disease.  Certainly it would be no strong indicator of HIV.

I should add I haven't noticed any swollen Nodes, but did have sore armpits. Would one develope swollen Lymph Nodes if infected with other STDs besides HIV?

THis seems like a good thread to add my question.

I've been over at the HIV forum after a serious case of drymouth and nausea after a protected sex encounter. My question is similar to the thread starter. Would other STDs besides HIV like Herpes or something else that one can still get even with a condom cause symptoms like drymouth and nausea when you first get infected?

It certainly could be, swollen groin lymph nodes is a symptom that should be investigated further.

I'd wait for both of your test results before you jump to any conclusions though.
